Gilpin County residents pay state and city taxes when applicable based upon where they live. Example: A person who lives in the city limits of Central City must pay 2.90% state sales tax and 6.00% city sales tax, for a total of 8.90% sales tax on the purchase price of the vehicle. A resident of unincorporated Gilpin County will only pay the 2.90% for state sales tax.
