Paying Your Property Tax

To pay property taxes, you may pay by Electronic Check, Credit Card, or by Mailing a Check.

Update as of April 25, 2024: The Gilpin County Treasurer’s office has become aware of an issue with tax payments not reaching the office and being returned by the post office.  If your taxes are paid by a mortgage company – or you mailed a check and it has not cleared your bank - please go to our website and double check that the payment has been received. 

• Click on Property Tax History & CTDs. 
• On the next screen, click the button, “I have Read the Above Statement”
• On the next screen, click on “Login” under Public User Login
• On the next screen, enter your account ID# (Schedule #) to log in and view your payment history

You may also call our office to verify payment at 303-582-5222.  

If mailing in your Payment it MUST be MAILED to: Gilpin County Treasurer PO Box 368, Central City, CO 80427.

Ways to Pay your Property Tax

Note the following fees to pay online:

• Electronic check - $1.50 fee
• Credit card - 2.5% fee with a $2.00 minimum charge

Payment may not show on your account for 7-10 days.

You may also pay your taxes over the phone by calling 833-691-2700.

If you prefer to pay your taxes by check, mail your checks to Gilpin County Treasurer, PO Box 368, Central City, CO 80427. If you need a receipt, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. 

You are also welcome to pay your bill in person at the Historic Courthouse during business hours.

Tax Payment Deadlines

First Half Due: Feb. 29
Full Payment Due: Apr. 30
Second Half Due: June 15

Sign Up to Receive Emailed Tax Notices

1. Locate your most current tax notice for the process.
2. Click here to get started.
3. Click on I have Read the Above Statement.
4. Login as a Public User.
5. Enter your account number and Search.
6. Open the account.
7. On the far left under Account Links, click on Verify My Email.
8. Enter the Secret Key Text from your current tax notice.
9. Enter the email address you wish the notice sent to.
10. Click on Verify Email.

Once you sign up for emailed Tax Notices, you will NOT receive the paper version. You should receive your notice by the beginning of February. Please contact our office if you do not.
