Are you interested in noxious weed education, management, and policy? Are you a resident of Gilpin County? If yes, please consider joining the Gilpin County Noxious Weed Advisory Board.
Board Member Primary Roles:
- Guide policy for noxious weeds in Gilpin County
- Advise the County weed management program
- Education residents on noxious weed identification and eradication
- Members are unpaid and serve on a volunteer basis
Requirements to Join the Board:
- Resident of Gilpin County
- Knowledge of noxious weeds
- Attendance at two virtual/in-person meetings per year for 2 year term
- Own at least 40 acres (preferred)

Role of Noxious Weed Advisory Board
The Board has been established pursuant to the Colorado Weed Act (Title 35, Article 5.5 of Colorado Revised Statutes) to act in an advisory capacity only to the Board of Gilpin County Commissioners in the matter of undesirable plant management. Communication between the Advisory Board and the Board of Gilpin County Commissioners will occur via the County Weed Manager / CSU Extension Director.
The object of this Board shall be to recommend policies and programs related to undesirable plant management within the broader framework of a long-term resource management goal for Gilpin County. It serves to encourage research, understanding, and education regarding noxious weeds, and to assist the Board of Gilpin County Commissioners in assessing the extent of noxious weeds existing in Gilpin County, and to collaborate with municipalities, government agencies, other county weed boards, and weed control officers in the furtherance of noxious weed management.
