City of Black Hawk IGA Status Update

Open Letter to the Community regarding The City of Black Hawk’s Lodging Tax Increase and Conditional Offer to Support the Gilpin County Parks and Recreation Department with $1,000,000 in 2025, with annual adjustments thereafter and Gilpin County’s interest to start negotiations.  

The offer was not declined.  

Gilpin County Community Wildfire Protection Plan Update

Gilpin County has contracted SWCA Environmental Consultants to develop a county-wide Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). The primary goal of this effort is to develop an actionable plan that individuals and businesses can use to feel empowered in protecting themselves, their loved ones, and their property.

Colorado General Assembly and Governor Polis approve changes that will delay certification of the tax roll

The Colorado Legislature and Governor Polis recently enacted changes to laws to accommodate property tax relief, which will delay Colorado counties certifying their tax roll. The new tax roll deadline is January 24, 2024, which is two weeks later than previous years.  
This extra time will allow taxing authorities sufficient time to certify their mill levies
and county assessors more time to compile newly required data.
