Logic and Accuracy Testing

Notice is hereby given that a public Logic and Accuracy Test of the electronic voting machines will take place on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 12 noon at the Old Courthouse. The public may obtain more information by calling the Clerk and Recorders office or emailing elections@gilpincounty.org. Due to the size of the election room, please note we have restricted space for watchers.

Gross Reservoir May 2, 2022 Update

Beginning this week, Denver Water will close all recreation access to Gross Reservoir as contractors build access improvements on the north side of the reservoir ahead of the upcoming boating season. These improvements are needed to accommodate the shift in recreation access due to closures on the south side of the reservoir for the duration of the project.

The full recreation closure will occur in phases:

Gross Reservoir April 12, 2022 Update

Dam foundation preparation, quarrying and site preparation activities involving drilling and blasting are scheduled to begin at Gross Reservoir on April 12. These activities will take place near the dam and at the on-site quarry located near the former Osprey Point Boat Launch, as well as at on-site access roads and staging areas. Please note:

Gross Reservoir May 13, 2022

As a reminder, Denver Water has temporarily closed all recreation access to Gross Reservoir as contractors build access improvements on the north side of the reservoir ahead of the upcoming boating season. These improvements are needed to accommodate the shift in recreation access due to closures on the south side of the reservoir for the duration of the project.

Work during the closure will include a new parking area, trail handrails, improvements to trail and access road surfacing, boat ramp construction and new signage.

New Gilpin County Manager

Gilpin County welcomes Ray Rears as its new County Manager. Ray is originally from Jefferson County, a 5th generation Coloradoan, who graduated from Arvada West High School.  He attended the University of Northern Colorado, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Geography with a minor in History.  In 2021, he received his Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, with honors, as part of the Executive Program with the University of Colorado Denver.

Gross Reservoir March 3, 2022 Update

Denver water has provided on update for its planned route for the Gross Reservoir project. There will be no project-related trucks on Highway 72 west of Gross Dam Road. All of the project haul traffic will be coming in from Highway 93 to Highway 72, and will then use Crescent Park Drive to Gross Dam Road until the intersection improvements at Highway 72 and Gross Dam Road are complete.

Forest Service Prepares for Pile Burning Opportunities in Western Boulder and Gilpin Counties

BOULDER, Colo. (Jan. 12, 2022) – As winter conditions settle in across Colorado's northern Front Range, the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests will work to burn slash piles resulting from fuels reduction and hazardous tree removal projects across the area. This season’s pile burning will begin as early as next week, and will continue through the spring, depending on weather and conditions.
