As I’m sure our community is aware, our admired Undersheriff, Tonia Kapke, lost her battle with cancer on August 6th this year. In light of this, I’m statutorily required to appointment a new Undersheriff.
I’m pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Demo as the new Undersheriff, effective August 15th. Greg brings 37 years of combined military and Colorado law enforcement service, of which more than 25 years were in supervision. He also brings a deep understanding of our office core values and our mission. He has been with the Sheriff’s Office for over 27 years, serving in various capacities, including deputy, corporal, sergeant, and division chief.
Greg is well-prepared to lead our team and our community through this transition and into the future. I am confident Greg will continue the legacy of excellence and service already established in this role.
Greg stated, “It is with a heavy heart that I accept this honor to serve the citizens of Gilpin County and the members of the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office.
You have my promise that I will do my best to honor the position and continue serving with integrity, honesty, and excellence. Thank you, Sheriff Armstrong, for placing your confidence in me.”
