Effective 12:00 P.M. – AUGUST 10, 2021

Effective August 10, 2021 at 12:00 p.m., Gilpin County will be rescinding the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. All fire restrictions will be lifted at this date and time. To stay up-to-date on fire conditions and restrictions in Gilpin County, visit the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office website at gilpincountysheriff.com.

Gilpin County will continue to work together with our local state and county partners to evaluate conditions as they change and the need for any future restrictions. Closures around existing fires remain in place in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grasslands. Caution and compliance with fire safety across the forest is critical. Help prevent wildfires and become a steward of public lands by checking the official local source for the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/arp/knowbefore.

“Visitors and residents alike are asked to be extremely careful with every fire and make sure all campfires, whether in campgrounds or in your yard, are monitored at all times and are completely extinguished after enjoying. We all want to keep our beautiful Gilpin County and National Forests and Grassland fire free for everyone to enjoy”, said Sheriff Kevin Armstrong.

It is important to remember that exploding targets and tracer bullets are never allowed on National Forest System lands.
