Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland press release.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (April 30, 2025) – Firewood permits for the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests are now available for purchase through a new online E-Permit system. Permits may be purchased by computer or mobile device at any time and eliminates traveling to your local Forest Service office.

“This new service is a continuation of our efforts to modernize and increase efficiencies for the public,” said Forest Supervisor Chris Stubbs. “The E-permits system will provide flexibility and convenience to our forest users.”

To purchase a firewood permit or to learn more about permits and gathering firewood online visit our Forest Products page. Traditional firewood permits and other forest product permits like mushroom and transplant permits will be available to purchase beginning May 1, 2025.

The Forest Service will continue to refine and improve the quality of the online permit system and add additional special forest product permits in the future. For more information about the firewood program on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, call the Forest Information Line at 970-295-6600 or email VisitARP@usda.gov.
