The Gilpin County Motor Vehicle Office today announced temporary service disruptions in February 2026 related to a required statewide system upgrade by the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). This upgrade is designed to enhance the experience by making the system easier to use and fully accessible on all devices

To avoid being impacted by the statewide system downtime, residents must complete all necessary driver and vehicle transactions, such as ordering car tabs or renewing a driver's license, online by visiting mydmv.colorado.gov before the evening of Friday, February 13th. Online services and kiosks will not be available until the upgrade is complete.

  • The Gilpin County Motor Vehicle Office and all state offices will be closed on Monday, February 16th for Presidents' Day.
  • The Gilpin County Motor Vehicle Office will not be scheduling appointments on Tuesday, February 17th, for staff training and final system checks
  • The Gilpin County Motor Vehicle Office will be open starting on Wednesday afternoon, February 18th, with limited appointments for the remainder of the week as our team transitions to the new platform.

We appreciate our community's patience during this short pause as we prepare to deliver a superior service for years to come.
