New Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Regulations Take Effect March 13, 2026

Gilpin County has adopted updated regulations governing Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS) in accordance with new requirements from the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE).

CDPHE recently finalized a new version of Regulation 43, which establishes standards for the design, installation, inspection, and repair of OWTS serving flows of 2,000 gallons per day or less. All Colorado counties are required to adopt local regulations this year.

Gilpin County has adopted Regulation 43 in its entirety, along with several additional requirements specific to local conditions. The updated regulations will take effect March 13, 2026.
