Effective August 05, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Gilpin County will be going into a Stage 1 Fire Ban.  This Fire Ban is in correlation to a Red Flag Warning issued by The National Weather Service. The duration of the ban may change pending future National Weather Service updates.

The following Infographic explains what is permitted and prohibited during a Stage 1 Fire restriction. In addition, please review the Stage 1 Fire Ban Restrictions document.

This Fire Ban is enacted by the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office and the Gilpin County Office of Emergency Management.

 Be Wildfire Ready! Gilpin County is in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions.   Not Allowed: 1. Open Fires:  campfires, grills burning wood or charcoal on public lands or pile/slash burning. 2. Fireworks: including otherwise legal fireworks. 3. Shooting or discharge of firearms for recreational purposes. 4. Smoking (except in designated areas and/or inside vehicles. 5. Chainsaws (except if they have a USDA or SAE approved spark arrestor) 6. Blasting and torches (except if in a cleared area with fire extinguisher. 7. Use of Explosives.   Allowed: 1. Fire Pit with permanently installed metal or concrete ring or grate. 2. Barbecues and smokers using gas with three foot diameter area cleared of flammable material. 3. Fully enclosed device using wood, pressed logs, or charcoal such as wood stove. 4. Fires on private property (excluding broadcast and/or pile/slash burning). 5.
