In response to ongoing power outages and dangerous wind conditions, a Joint Information Center (JIC) has been established today with the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office, The City of Black Hawk, and Central City, Friday, December 19.  There have been reports of fires in the County and as of 11:30AM all fires are contained.

📞 Public Information Line: 303-582-6015

This line will be staffed until 9:00 PM tonight to answer non-emergency questions related to this event.

🚨 Please reserve Dispatch and 9-1-1 for emergencies only.

🏫 Warming Shelter:

The warming shelter at the Gilpin School will remain open at all hours throughout the event for as long as needed to support our community.  You may charge medical devices, phones, and power banks at the shelter. Gilpin County School is located at the upper, High School entrance at 10595 Hwy 119, Black Hawk Co 80422.

🚗 Travel Advisory:

Residents are strongly encouraged to stay home and off the roads whenever possible. Wind conditions are extremely hazardous—especially along Highway 119, Highway 72, and Highway 46. Many side roads are impacted by downed power lines, fallen trees, and debris.

Reducing traffic allows Sheriff’s Office deputies, police, fire crews, and paramedics to respond more quickly to emergencies and life-safety situations.

Thank you for doing your part to support emergency operations and keep our community safe. 💙

Please continue to follow the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page for the latest updates and information.
